The Carmel Valley area has no public transit, and that leaves too many people stranded. Teens can’t get to activities, the library, or even back home without relying on their parents or an e-bike. Seniors who can’t drive are isolated, even with stores only a mile or two away.
The solution doesn’t have to be massive. A small, reliable neighborhood shuttle would make a huge difference.
Route 1:
Bidirectional loop route serving the main areas of Carmel Valley, Pacific Highlands Ranch. and Carmel Country Highlands. The stops would be request-only. Points of interest include: PHR Village, Del Mar Highlands/One Paseo, Plazza Carmel, El Camino Real Offices, Torrey Hills Center, and Neurocrine Biosciences. It would run every 20 minutes during peak hour only or could run a reduced schedule during the off hour.
Route 2:
Back-and-forth shuttle serving as a connection to the NCTD Coaster. Would be timed to arrive and depart with Coaster trains. Only needs one bus to satisfy demand.
